Sherwood Pines

// January 10th, 2011 // Comments Off // SHCGB, Working

Well what a wet and then cold weekend we had.  We took the teams up to Sherwood for the SHCGB rally, run by the ever loveable Mr Givens & Sue lol.  In an attempt to get more like Steve & Andrea we took cardboard to put in the van and soak up some of the mud – woohoo that worked!  Driving up it was torrential and we were lucky we were late getting there as once we arrived it stopped and then stayed dry.

I was out in the B class running 4 Rigrunners, Raz & Juno plus Howley and Minnie from Julie.  Fab little team I really enjoyed my mudbath.  Keith was in the C with Mobs, Pixel, Gracie & Indy.  He had a great run and was lying 2nd overnight.

Fab night out in the China Moon – always very welcoming and then a few drinks in the pub.

Sunday was really cold and the ground was solid, had an OK run as got a puncture on the long straight and also Juno felt the team a bit fast.  Keith kept 2nd place – really chuffed.

Other Rigrunners were Salmo with a second in B for Paul, and Mookie, Benny & Snowy getting 5th in E.  Gotta love Snowy, it’s a year since she went to Guy & Helen’s and she so enjoys running again, what a sweatheart. And Ozzie & Raider with a 9th in C for Dave.  Here are some photo’s courtesy of Stu Malcolmson

Happy New Year

// January 3rd, 2011 // Comments Off // Van, Working

Well 2011 starts as no doubt the season will mean to continue, with the Rigrunners having van problems.  Admitedly this time a slight Keith hitch, but 3 days of hard training at Bracknell took place each morning – in the car!  We now have taking 9 dogs out down to a fine art, we have discovered that single leads work best and only tie 2 to any tree or post to stop over knotting of the leads.  You do learn that you actually don’t need most of the items you have in your van ‘just in case’ but a big thanks to Dave & Carolyn for the use of rigs, and also to all the others who kindly offered.

As Sherwood is hoped to be 5 miles for B & C, Keith took out, 6, 6 and then 5 – poor Juno said enough! and ran approx 5 miles each day.  The girls did well and on Monday Mark followed with his 2 girls.  Temps were about 5 on Sat and then 1Sun & Mon, the ground dried better each day and the others all got a lovely walk, Patsy excelling at pulling on the flexi.

Just need to get the van ‘fixed’ this week and try and get in a railway line blast before Sherwood

BSHRA V ZERO

// April 26th, 2004 // Comments Off // Gossip, Working

So 9 years on, the scandal of Zero is still not resolved within BSHRA.

It’s not that they are scared to race them, you realise, they just won’t let them back in .

Their latest anomaly, is to allow unregistered Siberians to race. So a large number of Kennel Club registered Siberians cannot take part, but any that they view as ‘looking’ like Siberians can.

Hmmmm having seen some of the registered dogs they allow to run, this immediately strikes as odd, and then when you consider that dogs placed amongst large entries of Siberians judged, by the same people, at Kennel Club Championship Shows CANNOT race there you can see just how tangled a web they weave
