SHCGB Northern Open Show
// June 20th, 2004 // Comments Off // Showing
Following a yummy cooked breakfast, at a negotiated early time, we popped down the motorway to Carlisle to a new venue for this Show at Carlisle Race Course. The Show was well laid out with possibly the biggest dog ring in the world….a nightmare when the Judge keeps on sending you round!
Bitches were being judged by Sherrie Unwin with Krys ably assisting on the Stewarding front.
Juno set the tone by winning Special Yearling. Before we got in the ring again Jaqui Forde did her lunchtime stint on the Working Stakes. I handled Patsy & Keith had a very happy Toni, we got 2nd & 4th respectivley. Back to the main Show and Patsy got a 2nd in Mid Limit, Toni won Open & Em got a 2nd in Veteran. Keith got to handle Juno in the challenge and it was really nice to watch her for a change, she really is a super mover. However it was Toni’s day and for the first time ever we won Best Bitch at a Club Open Show.
Sadly we missed out on BIS & RBIS to two Huskidoo brothers – well done Snafu & Fyr – but the BOS trophy presently has pride of place in the living room.
To complete the day Em got a 2nd in Brood & Juno won the Welfare Special Open Stakes under the dog Judge Peter Steffans.
Apart from a quick rain shower we had a nice cool to warm day and the hour after the Show was spent chatting by the vans. We then popped back up to the Metal Bridge Inn in time to watch the American Grand Prix – very exciting – have a lovely fish supper, walk the girls only to realise that the Cows were on the path, have a few more drinks and then a text from Guy to say they’d been low loaded home AGAIN!
